One of the earliest projects I made that I’m proud of are my plush toy night lights. I was 9 years old when I learned to solder electronics from a kit.

Pretty soon I started coming up with my own DIY projects. First I made the circuit. It’s a simple circuit, only meant to light up LEDs at the flick of a switch.

The switch is the trickiest part, since it needed to be soldered.

I drew up a pattern for my plush toy, cut up the fabric, and sewed it up on the sewing machine. (I learned how to use the sewing machine when I was 8. Before that, I had been hand-sewing since I was 4.) Before stuffing it and while the toy is still inside-out, I set up the wiring.

I’ve made a lot of plush toys before. I’m an expert stuffing stuffer.

stuffing the bird. Almost done!
